WHAT IS A CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER?

Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are highly qualified, multi-skilled allied health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize patient activity and participation in athletics, work and life. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning of emergent, acute, overuse and chronic neuromusculoskeletal conditions and certain medical conditions in order to minimize subsequent impairments, functional limitation and disability. Athletic Trainers work under the direction of licensed physicians and in cooperation with other allied health care professionals.
