SPORTS THERAPY ADVICE
“If you experience pain or suffer an injury while participating in your sport or activity, it is important to consult an experienced sports medicine professional. A prompt evaluation may save you from a more serious injury. A simple change in your training or a small correction in your equipment may be all that is needed. If the evaluation shows a more serious problem, the sports medicine therapists at Westview will work with you and your physician to create a comprehensive therapy plan.”
SPORTS THERAPY ADMISSION
Using a multidisciplinary team approach, each patient at Westview is evaluated individually to define their rehabilitative needs. The following process is a typical example of what new patients for sports medicine may expect:
- A thorough examination including medical history, objective measures, and any necessary tests to determine the mechanical dysfunctions related to the injury.
- A plan of care is carefully developed with you to address any problems, impairments, and functional limitations.
- Goals are set for you with the aim of achieving the highest functional level possible.
- A home exercise plan may be provided in order to enhance your progress as you recover.
(This process is intended for informational purposes only. Recovery plans will vary according to individual needs and conditions.)
